We ate well!
The menu price is reasonable (€20.90).
The staff is friendly.
Small downside for the English couple who were next to us, who had to wait a while before getting the menu and who finally left because no one came to take their order.

We are spoiled for choice in seaside restaurants, so to be good you have to stand out and be better ?
Being regulars at Le Havre, we had not yet tried Les Planches.
In the afternoon, a little gypsy music appeals to me, as well as the whipped cream ?. No connection between the 2 but for me it's a winning combo ?. We decide to take a break and have some ice cream. Smiling welcome ?, quality, creamy ice creams ?. All this makes us want to book for the evening to see if the first impression is confirmed.
Formula at €20.90 which offers very good value for money for a starter, a main course, a dessert. Choice in this formula for all tastes, and you come away satisfied.
The menu is varied.
Ask for the mayonnaise because it is “homemade” with the “homemade” fries?.
It's fresh, it's good, both fish and meat.
I note these details that make the difference:
-vinaigrette on the salad (not all establishments season the accompaniment),
-the cut bread is good (it is not the first price molded baguette, dry and stale as I was able to find a little further on).
-we are asked several times if we are okay, if everything is going well, and always with a smile...
I have read some reviews that report a long wait time for service. Personally we had a normal service time during the rush and high season. Observing the staff, they were organized and very professional. Obviously each experience can be different but giving 1 star out of 5 for waiting is just convenience without taking into account anything other than personal frustration.
We will come back with pleasure.
? Remember to tip when paying, you have a small box available for the staff.

We ate for 2 people on Monday September 2 in the evening on the terrace. The setting is very pleasant facing the sea, and the young waiter was very kind. We took 2 chickens with rustic camembert sauce and chorizo sauce. And for dessert, a Nutella waffle and caramel ice cream with the added bonus of complimentary homemade whipped cream. The value for money is very good for around 20 euros including main course and dessert.
I highly recommend this restaurant!

Le Bouche à Oreille
This top-notch establishment is laid out behind a tasteful glazed façade. The chef adheres to tradition when crafting his bold, generous and flavourful cuisine but puts his own stamp on dishes with the odd touch of originality – think prawn tartare, prawn gyoza with coriander and lemongrass, bisque and cashew nuts. His friendly and efficient wife takes care of things front of house, dispensing insightful wine tips along the way.

Jean-Luc Tartarin
Jean-Luc Tartarin has a strong affinity with his native Normandy and concocts seafood dishes in which the modernism of Le Havre meets the soul of the Normandy countryside: line-caught pollock seared in Colombo oil; a fat juicy langoustine licked by rosemary embers; calf’s sweetbread in breadcrumbs with morels and green asparagus. Served in a cocooned interior done up in soothing beige tones, it is located in the heart of the historic town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Fine wine list and selection of ciders and calvados.

Le Margote
In his restaurant overlooking the Bassin du Roi, chef Gauthier Teissere is assisted by Marguerite (his wife) front of house. He delivers contemporary, creative cuisine, jazzed up with the occasional nod to Asia. The stylish, snug interior is the perfect foil for dishes that reverently respect the seasons. Each dish is a masterpiece – not least the tender pork belly with a celeriac purée and smoked emulsion, or the generous pollack with cauliflower and capers.
